Sick Monkey

I should have known something was wrong when Tucker hadn’t begun to stir at 8:00 this morning.  When I went in to wake him up for school, he was hot-hot-hot.  The thermometer* confirmed that he does indeed have a temperature.  So, we’ve been lying around today snuggling (I get the best snuggles ever when my little man is ill), reading books, and enjoying a Kipper marathon.  Well, Tucker enjoyed the Kipper marathon.  Me, well…I’ll just say thank goodness for the many addicting apps I have on my iPhone (by the way, Bad Piggies is a total letdown after Angry Birds).

Sadly, I haven’t been yet been able to give him a proper dose of kiddie ibuprofen to help him feel better.  He is violently opposed to taking any type of medication so I have to get sneaky and hide it in his juice.  He hardly drank any of it.  Sigh.  Anyway, he’s sleeping it off now.  And he wasn’t too sick to make sure I brought his truck up for him to snooze with.  So that’s a relief.  Regardless, I’m sure I’ll be in his room countless times in the next few hours taking his temperature 48 times to make sure it doesn’t creep up to the danger zone.  I’ll keep you posted.

*I’m constantly annoyed with the $75 thermometer we have.  It’s supposed to be the same as the ones in the doctor’s office, but it’s unreliable.  This is the fourth one I’ve purchased, each more expensive than the last as none of them work for shit.  The most accurate way to take Tucker’s temperature using the current one is to do it five or six times.   Annoying!  If anybody has an awesome reliable thermometer, can you shoot me a comment with the brand name and type?  Thanks!

Snuggles!

“Mom, stop it with the camera already. Can’t you see I don’t bloody feel well?”

  • Love&Giggles - Feel better Tucker!!! I’m not sure what thermometer we use but it was purchased at walmart for 20 bucks. We have been through several as well but this one is the best. You take the temp on the forehead temple. So easy!!October 16, 2012 – 6:32 pmReplyCancel

    • admin - Aw Nichol, thank you! If you get the brand, please shoot it over. Ours have been focused on the ear temp, which I think is only, at best, semi-accurate! Argh…October 16, 2012 – 10:31 pmReplyCancel

  • Yucky | Finding Ninee - […] moments. I’m talking about what I did last night without even thinking about it. If you read Tuesday’s post, you know that Tucker is sick. He seemed better last night. He wanted to play, run a bit and helped […]October 18, 2012 – 9:53 amReplyCancel

  • Sara - Have you tried the big plastic syringe approach for dispensing medicine? You can try giving him juice or some yummy treat with the syringe first, to get him used to it. Then he can either use the syringe himself with the medicine OR you have the option of shooting it right down his throat. (They sell the wide mouth syringes in pharmacies).October 19, 2012 – 10:00 pmReplyCancel

    • admin - I’m not sure if we’ve tried the “big plastic syringe” – what is that exactly? We’ve tried the little plastic syringe, which he just spits out on us. We’ve tried pretty much everything and have the best success disolving it in his juice. But, if he’s not drinking juice, that fails too. I will have to Google the big plastic syringe. Thank you so MUCH Sara!! And thank you for so consistently commenting. I appreciate it more than I know how to say.October 19, 2012 – 11:16 pmReplyCancel
