Potty Mouth

When your baby has limited language, each new word is a total celebration.  Every time Tucker says something new, or attempts to say something new, he’s met with extreme enthusiasm.  Jumping around, clapping our hands, and telling him what a good, smart boy he is creates the positive reinforcement that he needs to not get discouraged when he can’t pronounce something correctly, or at all.  That said, what do you do when the new word is “shit?”  Not only did he say it perfectly clearly, he used it in the proper context.  He dropped a truck he was playing with and said “shit!”  Do we jump around and celebrate?  Do we pretend we didn’t hear it?  Shall I record this in the back-and-forth list his teacher and I share with one another noting new words and sounds?  I have no idea.
