Tucker had his first field trip today. Parents were able to attend, but not able ride the bus with the teachers and kids. Because I have the worst sense of direction ever, and admittedly don’t fully trust my navigation system (she has embarrassed and let me down in the past), I figured I’d follow the busses. I was also paranoid because this was the first time that my son has been in a vehicle without me. And I know that my super-powered mommy radar rays of safety only reach so far. Before leaving, while waiting stalking him from my car, I could see Tucker in line to get on the bus. Then a stupid pickup truck pulls in and I can’t tell if he got on the bus closest to me, or the further one. But I figure it’s fine as they’re likely going to the same place. I’m pretty positive that he’s on the bus closest to me, so when it goes, I go. Two miles into the trip and we have a problem. My navigation is telling me to turn onto the highway. The bus is going straight. I’m pretty sure Leesburg is to the west, so I follow the nav and let the bus go on. It’s a long drive. Long enough to repeatedly run through every death and dismemberment scenario in my head. Long enough to call my husband and start crying over the phone about how I didn’t wait for the right bus. Yes, I really am that ridiculous.
Drama behind us, and even having a moment to pee before Tucker’s actual bus arrived at Pumpkinville, I have to say that that place rocks! There were five or six bounce houses, awesome slides, a hay maze, donkeys, deer, camels, pigs, chickens and other animals. It was awesome! But, you know, don’t actually go, because I want to take my husband with us one of these weekends and I’m sure it’s already crowded enough.
